Powered by the open-source NFSU2Recomp project, this browser edition compiles the PC release into WebGPU and WebAssembly, rendering the neon-drenched city of Bayview at up to 120 FPS widescreen with authentic vehicle handling, Dyno tuning, and controller rumble.

Bayview is a massive interconnected metropolis featuring over 125 miles of asphalt divided into five districts unlocked sequentially through career sponsor contracts:

Outrun Pink-Slip Races & Unique Performance Parts

While free-roaming in Bayview, you will encounter roaming rival cars marked by orange arrows on your minimap. Approaching them and pressing Enter initiates an Outrun race where you must build a 1,000-foot (300-meter) lead.

Winning Outrun races in each Stage awards exclusive Unique Performance Parts that cannot be bought in performance shops:

•`Stage 2 (4 Wins)`: Unique Hood (Visual rating +0.8)

•`Stage 3 (3 Wins)`: Unique Engine, Transmission, or Tires (+15% acceleration)

•`Stage 4 (4 Wins)`: Unique ECU, Turbo, or Brakes (+20% top speed & boost)

•`Stage 5 (6 Wins)`: Unique Widebody Kit (Unlocks Mantis, Vapor, or Apocalypse bodies)

*Note: You must complete these Outrun wins BEFORE finishing all sponsor races in each stage; once you trigger the Stage finale URL race, the previous stage's unique parts expire permanently.*

Dyno Performance Tuning & Gearbox Ratios

Underground 2 features full dynamometer engine diagnostics. Access the Dyno from your Garage or Performance Shop to fine-tune your power band:

•`ECU Curve`: Adjust low-RPM fuel injection for courses with tight hairpins (Jackson Heights Drift); push high-RPM timing for Highway Drag runs.

•`Turbo Threshold`: Slide turbo spool lower (3,500 - 4,500 RPM) for immediate corner exit thrust, or higher (5,500 - 7,000 RPM) for sustained high-speed drafting.

•`Final Drive Gearing`: For Drag events, shorten individual ratios to hit the 8,000 RPM redline right before the finish line; for Sprint/Circuit, lengthen 5th and 6th gears to avoid hitting rev limiters on Bayview freeway straights.

Visual Rating Stars & DVD Magazine Covers

Career progression is strictly gated by your car's Visual Rating (measured from 0.0 to 10.0 stars). When races disappear from your map and you cannot progress, your Visual Rating is too low to trigger sponsor DVD covers:

•Install carbon hoods, neon lights, trunk audio layouts, and custom vinyls to cross Star milestones.

•When an SMS alerts you to a photo shoot, drive to the star icon on your minimap within the time limit and press Enter to shoot the magazine cover, unlocking sponsor signing bonuses ($5,000 - $15,000).

How do I unlock Stage 2, Stage 3, Stage 4, and Stage 5 in Bayview?

Bayview districts unlock sequentially as you complete sponsor contracts. Finishing the required number of Circuit, Sprint, and Drag events triggers the Underground Racing League (URL) airport races. Winning the URL tournament closes the contract and unlocks the next borough.

How do I earn Unique Performance Parts in NFSU2?

You must win Outrun races against roaming orange competitor cars in free-roam mode before finishing the current stage's sponsor events. Winning 3-4 Outruns per stage unlocks exclusive Unique Engine, Transmission, ECU, or Turbo upgrades that provide higher stats than standard Level 3 parts.

Why did all races disappear from my world map?

If your map shows no new events, you have either not discovered hidden races (which award extra cash but have no GPS icons), or your car's Visual Rating is too low to trigger the next DVD Magazine cover shoot. Visit Body and Specialty shops to increase your star rating.

How does Dyno Tuning work in Underground 2?

The Dyno allows you to customize ECU fuel maps, Turbo boost RPM thresholds, suspension stiffness, and gear ratios. For tight drift tracks, lower your turbo threshold for instant low-end torque. For top-speed drags, widen your gear ratios and maximize high-RPM fuel delivery.

Does the browser version support controllers and wheels?

Yes. The WebGPU engine natively supports the HTML5 Gamepad API. Plug in any Xbox, PlayStation, or generic USB controller, and steering, acceleration, and rumble will be automatically mapped.
